WASHINGTON – Today’s hearing highlights the significant challenges and vulnerabilities associated with the EPA’s ambitious IIJA and IRA programs, as well as our efforts to help the Agency mitigate these risks and safeguard taxpayer investments. With more than $100 billion in supplemental appropriations on the line, the stakes are simply too high for mismanagement, inefficiency, or lack of accountability. Our office has consistently demonstrated that, when properly funded, we deliver some of the most effective oversight in the federal government. We are committed to using our statutory independence and authorities to provide timely and relevant oversight, and we hope that the EPA, Congress, and the public will view us as a partner in protecting taxpayer dollars and the programs and operations they are funding.
